We would not be wrong to assume that Apprentices are those who have just left school or college and are wanting to work with children in day nurseries or pre schools. Apprenticeships are not just for people who are not qualified and not working, it can be for anyone no matter what your age or position you hold in a children’s nursery or pre school.
To access an apprenticeship you do not need to be employed as an apprentice. Apprenticeships can be for those in full time work who want to upskill and gain a higher qualification. This means you can be on the salary that you are employed on and your contract that the nursery has given you would remain the same.
Apprenticeships start at Level 2 and continue up to Level 7.
Nursery room leaders, deputy nursery managers and nursery managers can all access higher level apprenticeships and they definitely will not be on an apprenticeship salary.
As long as the apprenticeship that you are looking to sign up for supports you, helps to develop your knowledge, skills and behaviours that you are needing anyone can access an apprenticeship.
